Dental Implants

A beautiful smile contributes to a better mood, it affects self-esteem, and it allows us to make a good impression on others.

The development of dental implants has created an alternative to dentures in replacing missing teeth.
Dental implants are synthetic replacements for the roots of the missing teeth. They are placed into the jawbone and act as the basis for an artificial tooth or a dental bridge. Dentures can also be attached to implants in most cases.

Dental implants can be beneficial for:

  • Improving your confidence

  • Enjoying greater comfort when chewing

  • Improving your self esteem

  • Enjoying better jaw structure

  • Getting a convenient solution to a lost or damaged tooth.

  • Dental implant procedures are carried out by a dentist or an oral surgeon and require several visits from start to finish.

    1. X-rays and CT scans are required first to determine the bone density of the area and whether an implant procedure is possible for the patient.

    2. The second appointment is the placement of the dental implant/s into the jawbone.

Local anaesthesia is administered for the surgical portion of the procedure; therefore, it is rather painless, but some discomfort can occur while the implant is healing. Antibiotics will be prescribed to prevent infections.

    3. The implant must then heal and integrate with the bone for at least 3-4 months before the new synthetic tooth is attached.

    4. After the tissue heals, the dentist will attach an abutment to the implant to replace the tooth.

    5. Artificial replacement teeth will then attach to the abutment as a natural-looking replacement.

For an implant procedure to be successful, the patient must have sufficient bone density as well as a strong immune system to prevent potential infections. Additionally, rigorous oral hygiene is required to ensure the longevity of the implants after placement.

Dental implants are comfortable alternatives to replace missing teeth and they feel extremely natural once they have fully healed. For cosmetic purposes, implants are designed to look and feel like your natural teeth.
They are normally made of biocompatible material such as porcelain, ceramic, or metal.

Although the complete implant process may take several months to complete, this is one of the best ways to replace your natural teeth and set up a base for bridges, dentures and more.
